    I’m brand new to OVO and this forum, so please forgive my questions, if the answers are redily available somewhere, and I just haven’t found them.

    When I consider the use of an “Open Source” project, I’m always looking at their “End Game” – or business model. The OroPlatform, OroCRM & OroCommunity seem to have had a lot of thought and effort, put into their development. Yet, I don’t see how these projects are being supported financially.

    I know any viable Open Source project needs financial support, so I’m wondering, where ORO gets it? Are the ORO projects, part of a long-term development cycle for a “Premium” platform (I see some references to Magento – is that the Premium platform, funding ORO)?

    Those I’m working with are simply not interested in using OpenSource Platforms, which do not have long-term support and a long-term plan.

    I see this website is using WordPress with bbPress, Contact Form 7, Comment Master, Theme My Login bhp signature (which is quite old) & a number of other WordPress Plugins, I’m sure. WordPress is a great example of the basis of my questions. WordPress.org is the long-term development/community platform for Automattic’s WordPress.com and premium features.

    This leads me to another question though… How does OroCRM integrate with WordPress?

    God Bless and have a great day!

    @Bamajr,
    Thanks you for considering our product. As you might know we were deeply involved in Magento and the open-source strategy there and we are looking to have the same model with Oro. The model is a dual-licenses where we have a free community edition and a paid version or enterprise version. The two versions will be distinguished on different levels such as feature set, support, warranties etc. This model was very successful for us and our ecosystem before and we feel will do good for this ecosystem as well.

    In the near future we are also looking at a SaaS or IaaS model to help companies that want to use our product without the need to take care of hosting or owning hardware.

    I hope this clarifies our strategy

    Hello OroCrm Team,
    i do understand the concept behint the project. I would like to suggest to carlify which feature on the roadmap are intended for which flavour of the product. This will help potential users to get a better idea what is possible to do with which flavour of the product and it will help all of them to plan for the future in terms of budget and project plans.
    Greetings

    It has come time to make a decision about a CRM to use. However, I’m not sure I can comfortably choose ORO when I still don’t know how OROCRM integrates with WordPress.

    I’ve also yet to see any type of transparent feature-set comparison between the “Free Community Edition” and a “Paid Version” or “Enterprise Version” – I’m not generally worried about using a community edition, but without seeing comparisons ahead of time, I would tend to shy away from OROCRM completely.

    Your timely assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    God Bless and have a great day!
