    Hello
    I am new in Symfony/Oro, and trying to use orocommerce VM as an easy way to get the correct environment for my first development steps ..

    I completed the VM with composer, phpStorm etc …

    However, I cannot reach (404er):

    oro.de/index_dev.php or
    oro.demo/index_dev.php/admin

    It seems, it has to be configured in
    /etc/nginx/conf.d/commerce.conf, which is now:

    server
    {
    listen:80
    server_name: oro.demo
    root /var/www/html

    set §subfolder /commerce/public
    include oro_general_service.conf
    location /commerce/public
    {
    try_files §uri §uri/ /commerce/public/index.php§is_args§args
    }
    }

    Thanks a lot.
    Frank

    Does the editor not accept semicolons and dollar signs? Its my second trial to post …

    There error message is:

    “FastCGI sent in stderr: “Primary script unknown” while reading response header from upstream, client: 127.0.0.1, server demo.oro, request: “GET /index_dev.php HTTP/1.1”

    Seems, FastCGI has to be configured. I tried according:
    Sample nginx Configuration for HTTP Websites (Use in Development and Staging Environment Only)
    https://oroinc.com/oroplatform/doc/current/install-upgrade/installation-quick-start-dev#install-for-dev

    And:
    The error message “primary script unknown” is almost always related to a wrongly set SCRIPT_FILENAME in the nginx fastcgi_param directive (or incorrect permissions, see other answers).
    https://serverfault.com/questions/517190/nginx-1-fastcgi-sent-in-stderr-primary-script-unknown

    But I could not go it working …
    Could someone give me the fastcgi-code, adapted to the /etc/nginx/conf.d/commerce.conf of the VM.

    Thanks a lot
    Frank

    Finally http://oro.demo/index_dev.php loads, when disabling

    #fastcgi_bufferes 64 64k;
    #fastcgi_buffer_size 128k;
    due to error massage that fastcgi buffers were configurred twice ???
    (I could not find the other configuration file …)

    IN:
    Sample nginx Configuration for HTTP Websites (Use in Development and Staging Environment Only)
    https://oroinc.com/oroplatform/doc/current/install-upgrade/installation-quick-start-dev#install-for-dev

    THUS,
    replacing original commerce.conf by the recommend one.

    However, page http://oro.demo/index_dev_php loads very, very SLOWly !!!!
    Debugging show 21 seconds (in comparison to the 100msec-feeling, loading http://oro.demo with commerce.conf – configuration ..).

    Something is still going wrong, remarkably wrong!

    Thanks for help.

    It is not working properly. Using my last attempt (see above), Slider is not shown, icons are missing due to missconfigured some image-path …

    I am ending up with my starting question:

    What should I do, to use orocommerce VM in devoper mode with debugging enabled.

    Thanks a lot

    Hi Frank,

    Virtual Machines provided by Oro intended to be used only for demo purpose. They are not ready for development.
    We highly not recommend using a virtual machine for development with Oro since it is unacceptably slow. Instead, we recommend use Linux or Mac and install everything on the local machine. Windows is also supported for development, but everything is 3-10 times slower there than on the same environment in Linux or Mac OS.

    Hi Andrey,

    thanks for reply … however, correct configuration would be interesting for learning (at least to me) … smile.

    Kind regards
    Frank
